Highlights of the 2018 Nissan Rogue

With its elegant exterior lines and quiet, comfortable cabin, the 2018 Nissan Rogue is easy on the eyes and fun to drive. Day trips and vacations are equally enjoyable in its spacious cabin with room for up to seven adult passengers and cavernous cargo space for luggage. The 2018 Rogue gets top marks for safety, which is not surprising considering its long list of standard and optional safety features. There are three trim levels available in the 2018 Rogue, which are the base S, the mid-level SV, and the SL, which is the highest level trim. With its combination of comfort, reliability, safety, and tech features, it's easy to see why the Rogue is one of Nissan's best-selling vehicles. New for 2018

Like many of Nissan's cars, the Rogue has been produced for many years. While the original Rogue was certainly a Nissan to behold, each successive year's version adds a suite of updates and exciting features. Mechanically and aesthetically, the 2018 edition remains largely unchanged from the 2017 model. However, there are several tech additions that make the latest Rogue easier, more fun, and even safer to drive. Playing music and staying connected is simpler than ever with a touchscreen interface that has Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A second USB port has been added to the cabin too. For the first time, Nissan added the ProPilot Assist to the Rogue, which is a safety-oriented device with lane-change assistance and adaptive cruise control. Two additional exterior color choices - Midnight Pine and Scarlet Ember - are added to the Rogue's color palette too.

Trim Levels

The base trim level is the S. Its standard amenities include highly visible LED daytime running lights and LED taillights, and an automatic emergency braking system. The S has a hill start assist and a sophisticated all-wheel drive system that adds extra control around corners. The Bluetooth connection system enables hands-free talking, and the audio controls are easy to reach and read on the central infotainment display screen. An anti-lock braking system is standard, and a handy tire pressure monitoring system lets you know when the tires need air.

The mid-level trim is the SV. The SV builds on the S's base amenities with 17-inch alloy wheels and a convenient push-button start. The SV has a dual-zone temperature climate control and a motion-activated liftgate. Roof rails, an eight-way adjustable power driver's seat, SiriusXM radio, and heated front seats are other standard amenities that you'll get by upgrading to the SV. Fog lights, a protective and attractive chrome rear bumper protector, and splash guards are some optional accessories on this trim.

Last but not least is the SL. This trim has all the standard features of the SV along with leather seats, intelligent cruise control, and Nissan's own navigation system with traffic alerts. Heated seats and fog lights, an optional accessory with the SV, are standard on the SL. LED headlights and power-operated side mirrors with LED turn signals enhance the SL's visibility, while a premier Bose audio system pumps out the tunes.

Performance and Safety

The Rogue puts in a steady, solid performance with a 2.5L, 170HP, four-cylinder engine that produces 175 LB-FT of torque. Front-wheel drive is the base drivetrain on the 2018 Nissan Rogue, but all-wheel drive is an option. Smooth gear shifting is provided by the continually variable automatic transmission. The Rogue's average gas mileage is 26MPG in the city and 33MPG on the highway. Nighttime driving is simplified with the automatic high beam headlights, which turn off when there's an oncoming vehicle. The Rogue also has an advanced air bag system with front and side airbags designed to protect occupants during front and side crashes. Rounding out the safety features are the blind spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert.
